I’ve been working on something new through Touch Point Automations, and I wanted to share the idea with everyone here first.

It’s called New Business Lab.

The idea is pretty simple.

I want to find local small businesses that are either just getting started or have a good business but very little in the way of websites, marketing, customer follow-up, automation, or other systems.

Instead of just telling them what they should be doing, I want to actually help build those systems with them.

For six months, I’ll work with a business to put the pieces in place — things like a website, Google presence, customer follow-up, reviews, AI tools, automations, and whatever else makes sense for that particular business.

TPA won’t charge the business for the work we do during the project. The business owner may still need to pay for tools their business needs — things like software, a domain, phone service, advertising, or other third-party expenses — but there will be no charge for my time or TPA’s services.

In exchange, I get something valuable too: a real business where we can test ideas, measure results, and document what actually happens.

And that’s an important part of the project.

I’m going to document the process.

What did the business look like when we started? What did we change? What worked? What didn’t? How long did it take to see results? Did the website actually generate leads? Did their Google ranking improve? Did they get more reviews? Did any of it actually make a difference to the business?

That becomes a real-world case study that other small business owners can learn from.

That’s why I’m calling it New Business Lab.

It’s not about pretending I have some magic formula for building a successful business. The business owner is still the one building and running the business. We’re building the systems that help support it.

It’s about testing practical systems in real businesses, measuring what happens, and sharing what we learn along the way.

I’m planning to document the projects on a new YouTube channel, and I’ll share some of what we learn here in RVBN as well.

Initially, I’m only planning to take on one new case-study business per month. I want enough time to actually do the work and follow the results rather than turn this into another high-volume marketing service.

I think it could become something pretty interesting — both for the businesses involved and for the rest of us who get to learn from the experiments.

What do you think about this idea?
